What is Canada Post AddressComplete?

Canada Post AddressComplete Address Validation System APIs enable Manhattan Active Omni Point-Of-Sale to check a customer’s address and provide suggested alternatives when available. This helps the clients reduce operating costs and improve customer service by primarily reducing the chances of mis-shipped orders.

What does this integration include?

Manhattan Active Omni is integrated with Canada Post AVS out of the box. This integration enables communication with Canada Post AVS by altering the base functionality in the following ways:

  • Address verification request is sent in Canada Post acceptable format when a user enters a shipping address in the POS Customer Capture UI
  • This AVS service can be used for Customer Profile Management as well. Without any Sale order, a store user may modify a Customer’s profile to add new saved addresses or edit existing saved addresses.
  • This feature is not extended to include other values that may be offered during verification such as billing addresses (AVS is also used for Billing Addresses, but in POS a billing address is pertinent ONLY to the Customer Profile). This feature is also not applied to orders interfaced into Manhattan Active Omni from external systems.

Address Verification (AVS)

When a user adds or modifies a shipping address in the Manhattan Active Omni POS for OMNI Cart Orders, a web service call is made to Canada Post containing the address information captured by the UI. A response is received from Canada Post that indicates whether the address that was entered can be fully verified or if recommended address(es) are present as alternatives. These values, if returned, are displayed to the user in the UI for confirmation.
